OPEN CALL FOR SCORES - SONGS IN ENDANGERED LANGUAGES
The Language and Music Network have an open call for scores from composers. They are currently looking for songs for voice and piano (any voice type) in an endangered language of the composer's choice. We can help out with guidance on languages and texts, but if the composer has some existing knowledge or link to an endangered language, this is preferred.
Composers should send their scores to firstname.lastname@example.org - preferably in PDF.
A number of Language and Music Network recitals are planned for 2015, and successful composers will get the chance to hear their work performed by top singers and pianists.
No financial remuneration is available at this stage, but we are applying for funding to publish a book of songs in endangered languages, at which point a competition will be announced. All songs submitted to The Language and Music Network in advance of the competition being announced will be automatically entered at no charge, and a cash prize will be given to all successful entries.
Composers are also encouraged to get in contact with The Language and Music Network with any queries.
We look forward to receiving your scores!
NB - the first recital of 2015 is planned for the week beginning 8 June, so if you'd like to be considered for this concert, please try and send your scores in by the first week of May.
